Shared Health Receives URAC HIPAA Accreditation

URAC, the organization charged with reviewing health information technology companies to ensure their operations are meeting the highest national standards, has given accreditation to Shared Health in the category of HIPAA Security and Privacy Covered Entity.  This accreditation program allows companies to show that they have the plans and processes in place to protect health information in accordance with HIPAA regulations.  According to their website, URAC’s HIPAA Privacy and HIPAA Security accreditation programs “outline a framework of best practices that describe the operational policies and procedures necessary for an effective compliance program.” As part of the process, Shared Health’s security plans, physical and technical safeguards, privacy compliance plans and training, among other areas, were reviewed in depth and were found to meet the most stringent standards.

Shared Health, highlighted in the Health information Exchange (HIE) Community on MedHealth World, is a leader in Health Information Technology and has over 4 million members in their HIE. Read more about Shared Health’s URAC Accreditation.
